Mechanical Design Engineer

DEEN Solutions (Pvt) Ltd is a trusted partner in providing cost-effective back-office engineering services and sales and marketing support for electrical equipment suppliers and switchboard manufacturers in Australia and New Zealand. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, and committed Mechanical Design Engineer with exceptional technical skills to join our team in Colombo.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and draft electrical switchboards in 3D using SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor
• Create complex sheet metal parts including folding details, stiffeners, bend allowances, and material thickness considerations
• Model copper busbar arrangements with correct phase spacing, mechanical support, and standards compliance
• Generate accurate flat patterns in DXF/DWG and NC files for laser cutting, waterjet cutting, and turret punching
• Produce comprehensive 2D fabrication drawings, GA drawings for client approval, and detailed assembly instructions
• Work closely with electrical engineers to ensure adequate clearances for switchgear such as breakers, VSDs, and PLCs, and to manage thermal dissipation

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized university or institute
• Expert-level knowledge of SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD (2D/3D)
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, specifically within the electrical switchboard or sheet metal manufacturing industry
• Familiarity with IP ratings, segregation forms (Form 2, 3b, 4a), and Australian Standards such as AS/NZS 61439 is highly regarded
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
• Fast learner with the ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies
